"But you're here. Warm beneath my hand and breath steady... The visions of you were always cold."

The angle shifts to the side slightly, the hand now turned to gently cradle his gold dangle earring in their hand. Krieg is still staring.

"Hmm... And you kept this, after all this time?... You always did love it. I often worried you'd pull my ear with how you grabbed for it when I held you..."

Krieg struggles to find his words, "Mom... Is it really...? I..."

Her voice has his attention, though whatever it is she says is blurred. A private sentiment between mother and son, a name he hasn't heard in over 30 years. A confirmation that it truly is his mom.
