i love stories that do this so much. one of the most common types of fanfic stories are the sort where the characters are removed from their usual environment and actually given a chance to be at peace with eachother, hang out and have fun together when they would otherwise be at eachothers neck.
for like 2 whole minutes was one such instance. asya herself recounts how his irregularity was the most subtle out of four main characters, given he quickly returns to being an unforgivable asshole after he hung out with asya and marina. because it was never meant to be. trying to change was futile.

i saw a steam review praising zato but saying we should maybe have spent more time on garin which i was almost going to agree with...but the whole story revolves around good things being cut too short. moments that should be cherished, but also didnt deserve to last so little. garin being nice-ish
