It’s weird how upsetting those photos are. Objectively I know that no building is worth more than the people being terrorized by ICE. But something in the symbolism of him tearing down part of “our house” is just sickening.
When my husband and I got married, we played a Cake song while we cut the cake. Probably only half a dozen people at the reception caught the reference, but we were amused by ourselves.
Love that show. The music is awesome!
I would 1000% watch this movie.
My library hold on the ebook of @scalzi.com ‘s The Shattering Peace came through last night, and I’m already through 44%. It’s a good Sunday. #booksky
Whoever bought it needs to have an exorcism to drive out whatever evil he left behind.
I love my Cubs but I absolutely blame them for screwing up the timeline of the universe in 2016.
Indeed. I have the smaller one sacked out next to me at the moment, while the bigger one studiously…licks the couch. *sigh*
Coming from the Chicago suburbs, where we mix names (the Tri-State, the Eisenhower) and numbers (94/294, 290) with reckless abandon, I have embraced the “the” since moving to San Diego in 2016. But only for highways in SoCal.
I truly don’t get why American is so much more expensive for internet. And not even free texting! Anywhere here is a dog.
I didn’t read either until adulthood. But I was born in Waukegan, Illinois (on which Green Town is based) and lived there until I was almost nine, and despite the many decades between Bradbury’s childhood and mine, Dandelion Wine just resonated with my soul.
I somehow skipped it and went straight to The Celery Stalks at Midnight, not realizing it was a sequel, and I loved it. I eventually backtracked and read Bunnicula as well. Just fun, interesting stories.
It’s so freaking annoying. And as someone that likes to knit while I am watching a show or a movie, I do not want my house to have to be pitch dark in order to have a semblance of a clue as to what is happening on screen.
Literally came here to share this exact recipe! So good, and so much easier than the roll out and cut nonsense.
I flew into O’Hare back in June and not only landed in what felt like Indiana, there had been thunderstorms before we arrived so we had no gate. We literally circumnavigated all of the terminals before parking lord knows where for like 40 minutes. Quite the experience.
Cubs and Tigers here. So…yeah.
Did the same about a month ago. Low grade fever, chills, and 24 hours of massive fatigue. The arm soreness lasted an extra day or two. Worth it, but there’s a reason I scheduled it for a Friday afternoon so I would have recovery time.
My husband is a Tigers fan, but if they end up losing, I won’t be too mad about Seattle advancing.
All four playoff games today had the result I wanted. Just delightful.
To clarify, Waukegan is also north of Great Lakes Naval Station. Signed, a Waukegan native that now lives in SoCal but still knows Lake County geography better than any place else. 😂

(I also know better than to claim I’m from “Chicago” when my first nearly 39 years were spent in the suburbs.)
AND ATTEMPT TO GIVE ALL THEIR FANS HEART ATTACKS IN THE PROCESS. Good grief.
As a Cubs fan that will always root for Kyle Schwarber, I am very much hoping for this to happen. Can’t stand the Dodgers.
My popovers salute your popovers.
As a Bears fan with a Lions fan husband, I hate the Packers more. So go Cowboys (this week).
My husband was really interested in watching season 1, but before we got around to it, I read your article. We have opted not to watch the show. Appreciate the work you do even if it means being reminded how much people such.
