He suddenly lost the ability to communicate - doctor thought he had a stroke, but further tests revealed advanced glioblastoma. He was given weeks to live. We (family) had to watch him die a most traumatic death - no one should go through that. VAD needs to cater for these cases also

Fully support, but in some cases like my husband (who was diagnosed with an aggressive/terminal brain cancer) VAD was not available. VAD requires the person must have the decision-making capacity to make and communicate a voluntary, informed, and consistent request throughout the process.
