I now assume that most players want to play it safe during battles (not using too much SP, saving their most useful items until the last boss fight, etc). So yeah, it sounded interesting in theory, but it was really bad design on my part 😭

We originally designed the battle system of our game Long Gone Days to penalize the player if they used skills too often (to reflect the emotional toll on the characters). In the end, our players only used the default attack command, making battles really monotonous. We fixed it later, though 🙏
