Gave me nightmares as a kid. Up there with Sapphire & Steele.
Years back visiting Chicago I was reading Morrissey’s autobiography mainly when travelling on public transport. Never have so many men wanted to chat…but only about Moz & it was the final nail for Morrissey with me. Read in public? Choose the text wisely I say.
Assuming this is a real trend (I’m sceptical), reading books to get laid is basically the liberal answer to Andrew Tate that people were calling for. But not Harry Potter
Dying at the book he's reading
Another day, another crisis in Higher Education. Teaching pressures due to redundancies and cost cutting means many academics are already doing less research. But hey, why not wring another stress line….
Here's some more craziness from the waste of tax money in Higher Education: state R&D spending is huge, but pouring it into a collapsing system risks just pouring loads of it away. Making everything dependent on a Wild West of undergrad recruitment has gone spectacularly wrong.

The biggest barrier to social cohesion in this country is this: a news agenda framed by a stream of pseudo-research “reports” from right wing think tanks with the pre-determined conclusion that immigrants and Muslims are intrinsically a threat to our country.
Excellent thread here on how (and why) to challenge media and political narratives on immigration.
Right, so I was asked to take a look at this headline and as you can imagine, there is a lot wrong with it! 🙄

This was initially published in

and then picked up by the usual GB News, DM, Telegraph etc

Let’s take a look….👀

Enjoy the conference and good luck with your paper!
With Glastonbury about to kick off and the prospect of a summer of wall-to-floor Oasis, it’s worth remembering what Mark Fisher had to say about both. #MarkFisher #capitalism #retroculture #thingscantgoonlikethis
These things are always subjective. Wong Kar-Wai for sure. Boyhood? Well….there are better Linklater films. Before Sunset (Boyhood is a bit of a one trick pony for me).
What I really want to ask is how you travel so light….a much prized skill.
Yay! Looking forward to seeing you at the conference, welcoming you to Falmouth and hearing all about Macca! ✊
Getdown Services owning Fri nite #Wanderfal #Cornishbank Peter Kay’s rola cola meets Sleaford Mods do pop. “Got choccy in my pocket”
What a beautiful act of remembrance. If possible, could you add my mother’s name, Joan Nicol. Thank you.
One of my favourite bands of the 90s and Delanian just looked effortlessly cool. Way too young to leave….sad news.
I saw this for the first time as a child over the Christmas period or leading up to Christmas. That was its tv debut! Gosh, it was surprisingly eerie. Totally agree with you. Still holds up I think. Still watch it on a regular basis.
Such a good film and shares much with Tokyo Drifter. Fukasaku and his films should be wider known.
I didn’t know this. I’m interested to know who the artist is.
Turning 40, but still sounds crisp and relevant, yet so 80s. High contender for my fav 80s album (fwiw). ❤️❤️❤️ still swoon when I listen.
Quintessential Christmas Eve viewing. What else would I be watching…#christmashorror
