Yep yep yep, 1000%. The love of the game is the most important part though, making art in spite of the circumstances is the realest and what makes the best work IMO. It's something we should all appreciate more.

When used right (using the extra room in the hands-off host's house), Airbnb is actually really great. When it's used wrong (to become a landlord and block housing being used for its actual purpose) it's a hellscape.

Investment mindset ruining everything again, surprise surprise.

If anything I wish we'd bring back very low-frills (but clean) hotels/boarding houses that are simply a place to sleep and shower and nothing more.

I actually think the U.S. does it pretty right with motels, at least from my pre-2016 experiences. Just a reliable place to pass through.
