I make things, physical + digital.
Welp, after a ton of troubleshooting I nailed it down to friction coming from the stock spool holder on the P1S. Applying some lubricant to the holder and making a spacer to keep spools from rubbing against the printer allowed prints to complete. BambuLab support confirmed. #3dprinting #phew

OMG, having a hell of a time with my P1S! For the last few weeks I haven’t been able to print anything consistently… after nearly 6 weeks of working perfectly. These days I can hardly get anything printed. So many extruder problems. New motor, new gear assembly, new nozzle… nothing. #3dprinting

Any #Fusion360 or #Onshape peeps out here on Bluesky? I keep waffling back and forth between these two. So far I’m landing on Fusion. On Makerworld the vote was more in favor of Onshape:

Ahoy Bluesky. I’ve recently found a love of 3D printing. It’s also rekindled my old love of mechanical design (I was an engineer in the 90s) and I’ve been super enjoying getting back into 3D solid modeling. Therefore I’ve pivoted my socials in that direction and came up with a new name: BTD Studio!

My wife just deleted all of her social media accounts and I’m really close to doing that myself (maybe not Bluesky, it feels different here, dunno). This video is a great breakdown of what this junk is doing to us and the trend of getting off social media- youtu.be/zN-rElTzR_4?...
Why everyone is quitting social media

I’m in the process of trying to minimize all of my apps/services and one of them is my website, well more like my parked domain. I might just have it redirect here, which makes me wonder, wouldn’t it be cool to have a custom domain load your #Bluesky profile page? 🤔

I just wrapped v1 of a web app I'm building using nothing but AI prompting. Not "vide coding" but text-based prompting like I'm working with a junior dev on how to design, build, and test a solution. I'm referring to it as "AI Driven Development" or #AIDD (a play on TDD). On to hosting... #codex #ai

Trying to get reacquainted with #neovim - after a year and a half it’s taking a bit to get my vim motion fingers back. But it’s happening! 😤

I don’t really have a comment for this picture, I just like it 🙂

It’s finished! I found out from the customer (my wife) that I put the wrong drawer pulls on! D’uh! But she accepted it anyway :) Maple, cherry, and walnut “apothecary” cabinet. #woodworking

Here is a picture from a couple weeks ago, making a cross body bag (pattern from Springbok Craft Co) for my wife. Didn’t turn out too bad for my first bag ever. #leatherwork

Refocusing my woodworking to be more power tool based (hand cut joinery is just taking too long). Drawers are ready for glue up! #woodworking #maple #walnut

The base of an apothecary case for my wife’s essential oils. Self harvested maple and hand cut dovetails. Due to a very cold winter, no insulation in my garage, and a busy schedule it’s taken me 4 months just to get to this point. Ugh. #woodworking

So far I’m about a half dozen leather working projects in… just haven’t shared pictures. Absolutely loving the new hobby! #leatherwork

I built myself a #leatherwork workbench this afternoon. It’s so nice! Before I was using the end of a side table… this is a big step up!

My first #leatherwork project! A cover for my large sized @fieldnotesbrand.bsky.social #notebook. A little rough, but all in all not bad. Next up is a sheath for my marking knife.

My first real purchase of leather (not just cuts from hobby stores) will be here Tuesday. First up will be a notebook cover, a sheath for my forged marking knife and then I may tackle making a new wallet for myself. W00t! #leatherwork #newhobby #gettingstarted

Just made a purchase of some leather working tools… I’ve been wanting to get into the hobby for some time now. First project will be a notebook cover, TN style, but for my large sized Field Notes notebooks 👍

Just brought in all my lithium batteries and glue from my, uninsulated, garage for the upcoming Arctic blast. #itsgonnagetcold #michigan #garageshop #woodworking

I’ve always used my notebooks for work productivity, but recently I’ve been thinking about actually journaling in them. I have a lot of angst I need to vent somewhere positive. And not rant at my wife all the time about this stuff. I’m sure she’d appreciate that 😂

Phew, I think I’m going to do a detox January… the end of year holidays are rough on me, heh. My liver needs some time to rehab 😂 Happy New Year Bluesky peeps! 🎉

I’ve decided that just like a number of years ago when I de-googled my life, I’m going to de-amazon my life. I had already stopping buying from them, but now I purchased a Kobo to replace my kindle. At work I still spend a lot of time in AWS, but hey, gotta pay the bills…. 💵

If I have a 2021 Kindle Paperwhite that I really like, but want to get out of the Bezos Co. ecosystem, should I spend the money on a Kobo? I’m eyeing the Clara BW but it’s hard to justify the $130 when I have a perfectly good Kindle… decisions decisions.

As I get closer and closer to getting ramped up in my new Hobonichi Cousin, I wonder if next year I just take a simple notebook and spend the last week of the year drawing out all of the pages I need. Sort of like the Bullet Journal, but my own flavor based on years of daily usage. 🤔

I’ve been really getting the itch to get back into photography, after a 30 year hiatus. Portraits and some macro photography used to be my jam, but now I’m thinking landscapes and nature. Plus I could get some cool gear! 😎
