The chromium browser ports now include VA-API support in #OpenBSD -current, which means GPU accelerated video decode/encode on AMD/Intel! 😎

You'll need the chromium-141.0.7390.107 package or later, 2025.10.141.1 for iridium.

Intel GPUs need intel-media-driver or intel-vaapi-driver, AMD works OOTB.

graphics/ffmpeg & multimedia/mpv ports now have VA-API enabled in #OpenBSD -current, with other ports still currently a WIP.

There's still more work required for browsers, but still exciting stuff! 👍

Heads up: #OpenBSD snapshots are rolling out shortly for some architectures (e.g: amd64) that are post-7.8 release, -current, be aware. If you sysupgrade -s now, downgrading to the 7.8 release when it releases later this month is NOT supported.

OpenBSD still has a boot floppy for amd64, apparently some modern server machines still had them quiet late. It has networking, but the list of drivers that fits in the floppy kernel config is shrinking every year..

Sorry, you mentioned floppies.. 😅

OpenSSH 10.2 has just been released.

This release contains only non-security bugfixes, most notably for a bad regression that made interactive that used ControlPersist basically unusable
