So wait, there was that band The Heavy, and now there's a band called The Heavy Heavy? And there's a band called Goose & a band called Geese?? And let's not forget Da Baby and Lil Baby??? Do none of you people have Google??? Am I supposed to take any of this seriously ?!?!?

Well, this was just a matter of time. This complex was too big, too unsafe, & run by buddies of Eric Adams. I saw Thundercat there in 2023 & the show was GREAT, but the venue was odd & concerning to say the least. I am always sad when venues close, this one... maybe not so much

Rest in peace, our hero, D’Angelo. Thank you for everything
D’Angelo (RIP) looking downward sullenly

I only saw live him once, at Afro Punk. And he was amazing. He came to see Fela with Quest on the last day. and I was there but not performing. I was just a few rows behind him though, and that alone was AWESOME (cont)

Voodoo meant so much to me. I poured over that record. Listened to it nonstop. It was such a brilliant revelation. A return to Marvin, but with tons of Prince, and so much more unique touches. It just changed the game 100% (cont)

He was the one we all wanted to be, the one us musicians dreamed of playing with, and the one we all kept praying to release new music as soon as possible (cont)

For those of born in the mid 70s, D’Angelo was equally imp a cultural hero & touchstone as Cobain, ATCQ, Beasties, Jane’s, Pixies, PE, NWA- and probably vastly moreso. (Cont)

RIP Diane Keaton. I know it's not cool to speak well of the films of Woody Allen these days (for very good reason), but The Sleeper, Love & Death, and Annie Hall are three films that changed my life for the better. Add the Godfather and my life would be very incomplete w/o the work of Diane Keaton

I second this. Can we make this happen?

Ok, I have to say, this was brand new to me, I had never heard of this show. But this was AMAZING. Holy crap this is great. Super hip music & puppets at Tiny Desk. An excellent use of 21 minutos of your time, is to watch this Tuny Desk by 31 Minutos. Very highly recommended

Superb performance by Robert Plant & crew. I love the combination here of Tony Kelsey's baritone guitar with Matt Worley on Cuatro Puertorriqueño. Looking forward to seeing this band next month

That was such a special show, such a great night

Ok the El Chavo del Ocho SNL skit, while imperfect, was goddamn AMAZING. Such a universal part of the Latino cultural experience represented on a mainstream American program, only a few decades late. And Benito as Quico? Wow.

Great musicians, great people

That’s just it. Some people are just so desperate they spam everyone. It’s a shame because I’m sure some of them are very talented people who feel pressured to do this. We need a better way to honor and respect our musical community
bryanvargas.bsky.social
I get them across the board. They reek of desperation. The folks who are cool, are cool, so it’s no big issue. Drives me nuts
