In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

There's no real reason that you should be bringing pizza.

I don't live with my mum but I'd have to not visit her. And I work with vulnerable people. And my meds are weird. We'll see. NHS FOREVER!

I never have a go at health staff. If I get turned away I'll take it up with the relevant parties. Like I said, I genuinely don't have the cash atm, but if I have to pay I'll pass it on to my employer (and notify my union)

Like I said, I'm on meds *and* front line. We'll see. Regardless, everyone deserves free healthcare.

Hey everyone! My new imaginary punk or pop band is called PERFORMATIVE

I will add that if you're not "eligible" and haven't already been vaccinated, you should be given the vaccination upon request. Health is a right and germs don't give a shit about nationalities or borders. (And neither do I)

Look, I don't wanna say it was better in the old days but can someone @helenlove1.bsky.social point me towards some contemporary sparkle punk that's as good as this youtu.be/HyM9RSi8-Dw?...

There's a guy from Shrewsbury and he's really tall and he had a friend that was writing a biography of John Candy but they couldn't get any funding cos there was was no sort.
brunepherine.bsky.social
Do you know about that book what that person wrote that Shaun from Shrewsbury knew and couldn't get published cos it was about John Candy BEING NICE?
brunepherine.bsky.social
I honestly haven't got £80 available today. That's not my point. The more people vaccinated, the fewer people risk being exposed unvaccinated. And I believe health is a right. Maybe if I make enough money and you want to take £80 off me at the end of the year that's okay.

I may be fucked. But I *work* in a home, so spending a minimum of 42hr/week should hopefully qualify. If I have to pay, I will. But I will also put it in to my employer as a cost and notify my union.
brunepherine.bsky.social
Is this really real? Cos on the off chance I have to pay, I want those points. Nearly a quid!
brunepherine.bsky.social
Isn't it fucking insane that we're even talking about this? Like.. "Am I entitled to that thing which may save my life or the lives of others?"

Changed GP recently but the last one definitely wanted to have it. Before now I've had appointments sent to me. The NHS app didn't stop me from making an appointment..
brunepherine.bsky.social
EXACTLY how the NHS should work. Free at the point of service.

That said, it's my mum's birthday soon so if I don't get the jab I'll unfortunately not be able to give her a birthday present. £25 in my pocket.
