I need get off the sofa and into the kitchen. I like to have some kind of fruit/currant loaf at Christmas and I found a new recipe for it. I don't know why it's Cumbrian, it seems pretty similar to most other fruit breads. The ferment is already going.

CUMBRIAN CHRISTMAS BREAD
I know the season has passed but I just discovered this recipe last week from a tweet by Delicious Magazine and with a little alteration to the fruit content (I didn’t have raisins or currant…

By the way, I nearly went over the balcony railing getting those pictures of the flowerbuds on the tall succulent. "It's how he would have wanted to go" you're probably thinking. "Oh no it bloody isn't" I'm telling you.

I must add, by the way, that a lot of the Christmas music on that radio station is incredibly cheesy, but much of it is quite majestic and enjoyable. I'm not sure why, though, Greensleeves gets played so much. I've never considered Christmas music. Is it though, and didn't know it?

Around 10am today I saw a truck pulling a woodchipper going past my window. "That doesn't bode well for a peaceful afternoon kip" I thinks, but no wood grinding nor chainsaws was to be heard all day. Very odd.

Every Christmas I get an ecard from a couple I knew back when, and a few days later I get

"In October, the Kentucky Distillers' Association (KDA) trade body said the amount of bourbon in warehouses across the state was at a record high of more than 16 million barrels".

I'm doing my best to help but I'm only one man!

The houses that used to have a front parlour and a back parlour might also have had a back kitchen, but never a front kitchen. Curious. Maybe there was a scullery that was called the back kitchen and the front kitchen was just the kitchen. I would like a front parlour and a back parlour.

I always wondered about that line. If he "doesn't have to try hard" does that mean Denim is a bit ordinary and ho hum? Because if he doesn't really need it what's the point of it being good?

Another bloody phone update needing wi-fi to download because it's so big. These are coming in at least once a month now and I don't have wi-fi. I have no need for it so I have to wait until I can get to somewhere with public wi-fi to download it, and the damn phone reminds me about it a dozen damn

I went to the big supermarket yesterday (Texas equivalent of Sainsburys etc) rather than the small co-op where I normally shop, to get some things the co-op doesn't sell. One thing that really bugged me about the last place I worked at was the near continual phone use by my workmates at every damn

The oddest thing just happened. I was watching 'On the Throne', a '40 Minutes' episode with Lucinda Lambton. At the moment she picked up this one I heard a *crash tinkle* that sounded exactly like it would had it been dropped. I rewound it, and no crash tinkle. Did I imagine it? Very mysterious.

Finding a box of Variety in the pantry when you went to get your everyday cereal was like Christmas morning come early. It's strange how the Puffa Puffa Rice was always the last to go. Sugar Smacks. What a weird name for a breakfast cereal.

They've been (they were arriving this morning as I was leaving to catch a bus). Not only that, the leaves are finally starting to drop off the trees which were all duly tidied up and bagged. But now they've left, the wind has got up and there's a regular rainstorm of leaves going on out there!!

What an unpleasant day. Not cold, but damp, grey, dreary. Sucks the soul and happiness out of your body like a dementor.

Do newspapers like The Observer and The Sunday Times still have supplements? Do they even have printed editions? The supplements were so good, especially when the cover feature was about space exploration, whic it often was for several years. Wouldn't buy the ST now of course, oh gorblimey no.

That memory problem I was talking about yesterday where one thought displaces another and the first one is lost actually happened while I was writing those three posts. Still have no idea what it was.

My bathroom used to look like this, sort of. I'd cut pictures from magazines, Sunday supplements

That's a very handsome pair of daisy roots, but laces are not for me these days, unless...

Is that a zip on the right foot? Why a zip *and* laces, unless the laces are for show. It starts pixelating before I can zoom in enough to get a good look.
