Socialist. Republican. European. Trans ally. Follower of UK politics for over six decades.
Also clinging to the wreckage of the site formerly known as Twitter under same handle as here.
No legal expertise should be inferred from my nickname.
Ferrari very exercised about trans children not being able to give consent to treatments.
He'll be even more angry to find that male babies who are even less able to consent can have their penis mutilated for non-medical reasons. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

How did O'Brien go through an expensive private school and then university without knowing how to pronounce 'homogenous'?
Or is it performative ignorance to endear him to his thick fan base? #LBC

As Ferrari is platforming the views of Toby Young's Free Speech Union this morning maybe he could ask the Free Speech Union what they think about the BBC censoring Rutger Bregman's Reith Lecture from fear of upsetting Trump? #LBC @lbc.co.uk

Ferrari says Alf Garnett's rants were never challenged. They were constantly challenged by his son-in-law, played by Cherie Blair's father Tony Booth. The point of the programme was to expose and satirise bigotry, not that it always worked with stupid viewers. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

James O'Brien says 'the notion that our system is over-generous to pensioners is a valid one'.
The UK State Pension is one of the lowest in the developed world.
As O'Brien constantly says: that's not an opinion, that's counting. #LBC @lbc.co.uk @mrjamesob.bsky.social

On the #BBCNews website they say they can't quote the line that was removed from Rutger Bregman's Reith Lecture for legal reasons. So does that mean nobody can now accuse Trump of (well-documented) corruption on any BBC programme? #LBC @lbc.co.uk

That stickler for factual journalism James O'Brien says when Boris Johnson had Covid he was put on a ventilator. Not only is that untrue but he later admitted on TV that he had Covid only to a mild degree. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

Ferrari spends hours of airtime attacking "woke", diversity, BLM, multiculturalism etc and then every so often, like today, does an item where he does a lot of hand-wringing over rising levels of racism in the country. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

In April, I wondered what a trans toilet ban might look like in practice. Trans people and their cis women allies have been sounding these alarms for years. It now seems clear that the UK government took all these dire warnings as policy proposals.

Nick Ferrari weirdly obsessed with the effect of naked cycling on people's genitalia.
But it makes a change from an obsession with the genitalia of trans people. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

Terrific call from a Motability user telling Ferrari that instead of taking the word of a caller talking through his arse Ferrari could go online and quickly find actual facts about the scheme. But if Ferrari started doing that he wouldn't have a show. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

It's not just black and brown people. The right don't like any minorities who are targets of their prejudices appearing in TV ads. Remember the furore when McCain put two gay dads in a commercial in 2017? #LBC @lbc.co.uk

Nick Ferrari just described himself as "a journalist".
I wish he wouldn't do things like that. I was shaving and almost cut my face. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

I doubt that many voters struggling with very high home energy costs and food prices up by 37% in the last five years are as obsessed with the China spying case as the Westminster/Media bubble are. #r4today

That's the problem with human rights. They don't just protect rights for yourself but also for people you don't like and many find that intolerable. #r4today #ECHR

Will surprise few that Ferrari thinks Thatcher privatised the railways and that the power cuts were under Labour when they were actually under Ted Heath's Tory Government. #Ignoramus. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

Like many Matthew Wright exaggerates Farage's popularity in saying he's hugely popular. In polling he has a consistent net negative score with about 30% viewing him positively and up to 60% negatively. #LBC @lbc.co.uk @matthew-wright.bsky.social

Often happens on #LBC that a presenter ends a call because it's a bad line when I can hear the caller perfectly.
I'm sure there's a credible technical explanation. @lbc.co.uk

I liked Badenoch's retort about empty seats that the fringe events are full. Could that be because fringe events are held in quite small rooms? #r4today #CPC25

Politicians sacking judges and Ministers deciding sentencing policy: there are chilling historical precedents for the attacks on an independent judiciary being proposed by Robert Jenrick. #r4today #BBCNews #CPC25

Important to note but rarely mentioned that Lord Wolfson who did Badenoch's review of the ECHR is not an independent KC but the Tory Party's Shadow Attorney General. #r4today

Caller is wrong to say people would be acting lawfully if their sign said "I oppose the ban on Palestine Action".
People have been arrested for signs that contained the words "Palestine" and "Action" in any formulation. O'Brien seems to have missed that. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

The Thatcher years were grim but these are the darkest political times I've experienced. I would never have believed I'd see mainstream UK political parties embracing policies the National Front and BNP were reviled for in the past. #BBCLauraK #BBCNews #LBC #UKPolitics

Commentators even when critical of Starmer always say he's a decent man, a man of integrity. Have they forgotten all the lies he told to become Leader and again to become PM? Not to mention the greed and venality of accepting £19K of clothes from Lord Alli. #Starmer #r4today

Memo to @matthew-wright.bsky.social: Someone from the right-wing, obscurely-funded Institute of Economic Affairs is not "an independent economist". #LBC @lbc.co.uk
