Thank you @raechelkelly.bsky.social and it was also great to learn from your empathetic and observant ways, as with the exemplary @lornaprescott.bsky.social and Jo Orchard-Webb
This was such a joy to be part of, with thanks to @lornaprescott.bsky.social Jo Orchard Webb and everyone at Co Lab Dudley, especially the Dudley People’s School of Climate Justice crew! And especially @bridgetmck.bsky.social ‘s insight and ways of drawing connections 🌍 ❤️ 🌱
Got a bit of writing done. It’s been heartening remembering two days in Dudley this spring with @bridgetmck.bsky.social @raechelkelly.bsky.social and our local collaborators, going about evaluation in a deeply relational and generative way.

Looking at these suggestions maybe there’s a gap in considering film made by & with land-connected & displaced people. War, ecocide & climate impacts are so entangled in the longest affected places that it becomes maybe less a single/dramatic incident. E.g. Pumzi (Kenya), Atlantics (Senegal)…
Is there an appetite for expanding the definition of Environmental Responsibility to prioritise tackling root causes and anticipating risks? What are the barriers to developing such capacities?
What are the opportunities or initiatives that could be supported?
I’ve been exploring this question:

What is the state of capacities in the UK Cultural sector for an alert, full-spectrum and effective response to the Earth Crisis?

And some related questions:

Thank you to @bridgetmck.bsky.social who delivered an inspiring talk, full of resources and frameworks to give ‘people courage to be planetary citizens, or inhabitants of a biosphere in trouble. Not as consumers for culture…’ 💫

I’ve supported three courses, and a fourth one is coming up in October. This will consist of creative workshops where we test some of the activities for engaging public audiences.

I’m running an introduction session on 26th September. It will be lovely to see you if you are curious.

That corn, though, a lot is processed to corn syrup and oil, cornstarch and alcohol. So, that’s a teeny tiny amount of fibrous whole plants.

By me: Trump’s spending bonanza for the Pentagon will produce an additional 26 megatons of planet-heating gases – on a par with the annual emissions generated by 68 gas power plants or the entire country of Croatia, new analysis by @cplusc.bsky.social

The people and species most suffering have contributed least to the causes.
I stand for the urgent and necessary transformation of harmful systems, for social justice, and the restoration of life-supporting conditions on this precious planet. 3/4
These arise from a dominant narrative that land and lives are to be fought over, exploited and extracted for the benefit of a few. 2/4
Earth Crisis Acknowledgement:
I acknowledge that Earth’s systems are in a state of overshoot, signalled by global heating, biodiversity loss and pollution, and worsening shortfall in meeting needs equally. 1/4

There’s so much happening right now, I thought I’d put together a running thread on the dismantling of #climate and research and knowledge infrastructure in the United States 🧵

Jason Hickel posts on Insta new research that lower US income groups want environmental protections more than higher income groups. The assumption otherwise has been constructed by the propagandising lobbies trying to kill protections & delay action. Tx @bridgetmck.bsky.social!
