“Slaughterhouse Rock” (1988)

The first half is an awful mess. The entertaining second half and Tony Basil save it from being entirely unwatchable.

Engaging slow burned drama with unsettling atmosphere & creative use of horror elements as metaphors for heavy subject matters.

5 years ago, I started a “multi-years long” quest to watch 1,000 horror movies, which ended up 2,000 as the next goal and possibly go all the way to 3,000. I am just a few movies shy from 1,826 movies (1/day) at this point after 5 years. It’s started with this classic.

Sorry to hear that. May this Halloween season brings you more joy and positivity to move forward from the September blues. 🔪👻🧛🐺🧙‍♀️
Yes, I’ll be doing something similar. 😄

Day 6

Life After Life (1981)

An interesting concept with flat narrative and snail pace. However, it has a few creepy moments and it is a beautiful production that earned it a few technical awards nominations.

Fear factor: 6/10

Day 5

3 Days Of A Blind Girl (1993)

It has some good intense moments possibly inspired by “Wait Until Dark” & “Misery” but it also has some ridiculous flaws that ruin its storytelling.

Fear factor: 4/10

Day 4

Hex (1980)

It started as a soap opera then turned into a vengeful ghost story with multiple plot twists. Visually stunning with the cinematography and beautiful set design. Worth a watch.

Day 3

Ebola Syndrome (1996)

It is vulgar and disgusting but it is mindlessly entertaining and it is also so bad in some ways that it is funny. Production value is surprisingly good as well.

Encounters Of The Spooky Kind (1980)

An entertaining horror comedy blended with high dosage of martial arts. Enjoyed it from the start to finish despite its rather shallow plot.

New Blood (2002)

Interesting concept and atmospheric, first 2/3 of the movie has too many missteps in its direction, last act kinda saved the movie, cast performance is lacking unfortunately.

“28 Years Later”

It is like Legion of The Exorcist or Dream Warriors of ANOES. It worth the 18 years wait and arguably best entry of the franchise. Solid drama with good intense moments.
