i tried to watch a few episodes and i really did like some of the components, but it is hard to kind of jump over that elephant

you're absolutely right, Capital City's gimmick is just a weaker version of the Shadow Gens level transitions

yeah, it's that middle piece between the Meta and Post-Meta Eras, where you see that awkward stumbling of a franchise trying desperately to regain its footing

now more than ever i'm so excited to see what Sonic does next, and a lot of that is owed to Forces and its misgivings

oh yeah for sure, Shadow Gens' Sunset Heights, while having a very short first act, was a delight to see because it felt like all that knowledge was put back into realizing a real strong vision for that game

it will always bother me that they give you the Burst one first, since it's the simplest but simultaneously the most fun to use besides Drill

i think that's what drew me away from experimentation on that front, that that first one was just always the right pick for me

despite my gripes tho i still do have kind of a sentimental thing going on with Forces, since it was the first modern game to come out after i got back into Sonic

i'll always kinda appreciate it for being that awkward middle, even if i don't necessarily love it

i suppose a lot of it is just the fact that it feels sort of... easy to ignore? my favorite games, Sonic 3 and Sonic Generations, always kinda feel like they draw you towards experimentation

Forces just doesn't; you bring up the Cube Wispon, which i always saw as a pacebreaker for example
