Such sweet eyes, thanks for the enchantment, m!
I went and looked and apparently they cut down the Sacred Cedar?! What the hell, dudes?! The hell, indeed...

Anyway, I understand from your other posts why this would have spoken to you. I hope it helped with your grief, losing someone dear is very hard.
My share of the prize after ~2 hours of hardass digging at community garden

Right is marshmallow root, others are horseradish root. I'm big on horseradish and excited to make my own

Hah, surely there is something to be said about the coincidence of reading Gilgamesh during covid, idk what tho because I'm not familiar with it -.-
Ah it's nice that your parents (I suppose) brought you to the library, I do the same with my kid and it's really important for me that he know that kind of place

Myths are absolutely creative but for me they go too far and lose the verisimilitude which makes a story matter
Yeah, I got up early for this one. Was eating brkfst, saw some strands of light, started hearing birdies, immediately ran out and got on my bike to get to The Spot
Nothing can ruin this day, for I have seen how it begins

myths, huh? I'll admit I'm not usually too keen on those, but maybe it's my rationalist upbringing at work there. "the first condition of critique..." etc.
Yes, it is all the more dizzying for me after having been apple-picking and having carefully chosen each one by hand, and having tasted how delicious they are when freshly picked
Thank you, m! As you've surely noticed, I like photographing trees. But I've been trying to apply the same kind of attention to other subjects. Glad you liked it!
Has been recently coming back to me every day, after more than 2 years of seeing it. The movie's really good at showing how it feels to try to mitigate a horizon of irreversible change/trauma
Aug 3 2023:

Take Shelter (2011) showcases the acting prowess of Michael Shannon (& co). The film reflects on schizophrenia with striking photography, very tense narrative and a cathartic climax that is, sadly, kind of ruined by the epilogue. Still, perfect for movie night. 9/10

3) there goes any remaining hope of reading something from the last two decades!

4? book/story review soon?
mega hipster!..
1) I also am nostalgic/attacked to book smells (often a particular edition that uses that same print/binding), interesting that a book's smell should be so important
2) I have a few Pléiade compilations at home which are very nice but nowhere near this
Some are still green here too, like the linden in front of my home. Maples are in full blow-out, while gingkos are barely yellowing. It was only a few years ago that I started paying a lot of attention to trees trying to figure out their genera/species and it has helped me notice more about them
I also wonder if it's not just the couple hundred km difference. Maybe the tree species are also different (possibly owing to that km difference), and it's that difference that makes them react differently to the changes of the light&temperature.

Utter stillness in the trees this afternoon
Ah I see, then it's more like

*smells like coconut*
"GLAAASS!!! Are you making popcorn again?!?! UGHHH"

Jokes aside, I also take vitamin D pills coated in coconut fat because it helps absorption

...

ANYWAY
Yeah public libraries are a real boon when they aren't the equivalent of a free drug sample.

Man, toddler-like excitement is the best, I still do the hands thing, only now most often is when getting incremental work done in the kitchen *hashtag adult life*
Verbena in the sand, very romantic, knowing that verbena also means festival/celebration
