The first is a ballad that Christian and I have been playing quite a bit on the tour. “Boomer” is an older tune of mine which we finally made a good, legible version of, after a few requests from folks to make that available.

There’s a big Brahms influence here, particularly from the finale of his Handel Variations, which similarly uses pedal points in octaves surrounded by figuration and melody.

There's a full orchestra on several of the tracks, conducted by Dan Coleman, and also some amazing other musicians, including Chris Thile, Daniel Rossen, Matt Chamberlain, Felix Moseholm, and John Davis, who plays bass and also recorded and engineered the record beautifully.
