Van Helsing is such a bad ass here. He may be old (like in the book), but he knows his stuff. I’m happy he comes back and Dracula‘s Daughter.

This is a movie I watch at least two times a year and I will continue to do so. 4 1/2 stars out of 5

One thing I will say that Nosferatu did better than Dracula is the entire scene with the ship. Count Orlak on the boat is much more interesting to watch than this scene of Dracula in his coffin and Renfield laughing.

The Jonathan character in this movie is a bit of a himbo and doesn’t do much other than yelling “Mina!” throughout the entire movie. I appreciate Renfield being the one to go to Transylvania and then becoming mad on the trip. Too bad we didn’t get more of him with the brides.

Bella Lugosi‘s Dracula will forever be the Dracula all others are compared to. While changing his looks from the novel, (where is his mustache? no hairy palms?) this Dracula is our classic vampire look and always will be.

While not my favorite universal monster movie (looking at you Bride of Frankenstein), this is for sure in my top five. I also get nostalgic watching this since this is one of the first horror movies I’ve ever watched, thanks to AMC’s Fright Fest in the 90’s.
