I like fish, trading cards, software and business.
"progress slop"
examples:
League of legends: frontloaded a competitive game with a pointless player level up.
Digital tcgs: *gestures everything.*

Counterexamples:
Chess: you dont have to level up your fucking pieces.
RTS: the tech tree scales per game, not per account.

Ah, this is easy. The game is trying to load the person's cultural food, but that table is empty. So it instead displays a bunch of junk data. Common glitch.
I thank God every day I’m black. WTF is a pineapple casserole??

If a local police department assists ICE in kidnapping people, are they eventually going to be held criminally liable too? Accountability must happen. We can't bend the knee to fascism and police who assist are as culpable a anyone else.

Mandarinfish. Gorgeous creature that demands a heavy supply of live invertebrates to thrive.

I have so much respect for binding of isaac. It's an amazing jewel of a game.

I just don't personally enjoy the idea of obscuring the consequences of your decisions to increase replays. I could just play it like a wiki game I guess. But that feels lame to me.

Oh cool. A new microdash/stance character.
when trying on pants, do this in the store. then tell the sales associate "the menswear guy told me to do this."

"Immortal jellyfish" is a misnomer.

What we are seeing is a relatively normal cnidarian lifecycle. By the same logic, all organisms are also immortal. Its just a pointless pop science miscommunication.

3e proudly built itself on awful ideas.
4e was the first and last attempt at a good system, but rpg players have bad taste.
5e is part bad ideas from 3e, and part good ideas from 4e that are slightly worse from obfuscation.

This is my hill. Kill me on it.

The impact of wc3 was completely insane.
* exposed millions of people to a somewhat flexible game engine for your project.
* distribution/online play for your game.
* birthed entire genres.
* people were just straight up downloading scripts that ran arbitrary code written by 10 year olds.

Having "healer" or "support" as a required role in a competitive team game is a giant game industry monkey ladder experiment. Everybody knows it poisons matchmaking, your ability to tune attrition, social behavior, agency, balance... it's a cursed problem.

"But that's just how things are done."

The president of the United States just called for the execution of his political opponents. We cannot normalize this. This is a moment for moral clarity.

"Would you read a book about..."
"Would it be okay to make a game where..."
"Would it be a good idea to..."

Do not ever ask permission to have a vision.

If you treat creating as optional, the correct time to do it is never.

Oh? You can't create? That's okay. Everybody that can create was the same way.

I promise you that the works you crumple up look like magic to somebody that won't pick up a drafting pencil, regardless of your skill level.

Am i crazy, or did spellchecking recently get way, WAY worse? I could have sworn it tries to gaslight me into misspelling.

I'm torn.

I didn't start doing well in life until I treated myself with a bit more grace.

But I find "teehee, adulting. Infantilize me XD." type posts to be a really cringe coping mechanism. Being burnt out by an unkind system doesn't make anybody a child.

In hindsight, the way young progressives and skeptics began to eat each other in the 2000s was a major blunder for the culture war. 'real things' like secular government, medical science, and climate change should have never been bundled with early social justice concepts into a single dogma.

People remember Pokemon Yellow as a piece of media. Nobody would remember it if it were live service patch #99.10.18 (notes: temporarily added pikachu walking event.)

Someone turned up on one of our threads the other day and said something very irritating… but probably a commonly held belief.

“They should only tell us if a significantly different virus turns up..”

Ok. Not irritating. Infuriating. I’ll explain why.

Imagine for a second if there was anything a 5-10 year child could do to influence the morality of your character for the worse. Recognize the sheer implausibility, the total absence of agency they would have over you.

Kind of stupid that A:tlA had to concede "Avatar" to James Cameron. Mid blue alien movie had basically no cultural impact, so there's no way it deserved the one word title. It's just a gaudy clout and legal flex.

I'm sorry gamers.

I didn't play FF7 when I was younger, so I tried to finally revisit and finish it recently, and... #FF7 #spoiler

The worldbuilding and themes are so compelling, but sephiroth kind of ruins the plot and made me lose interest.

I won't try to take away any person's happiness with this, but...

Yugioh without a doubt is the most predatory tabletop game by a long shot. And all of your favorite creators for it are somewhat complicit.

Right now, he's the only fish in this 30 gallon. I'm in no hurry to add more at the moment.
