It's interesting, isn't it, that out of three books about ghosts, the one written by the white guy gets recommended the most. The one written by the black woman gets recommended the least. When you consider the way the ghost tour industry operates, it's quite rich food for thought. (4/?)

The two books that influenced me the most while writing Invisible Women were Ghostland and Tales from the Haunted South. Many, many negative reviews of our books recommend folks read Ghostland instead, as it is superior to our book. Fair enough, but ... (1/?)

I remember this case so vividly (I also grew up in Ontario, was about 15 at the time) and I've been ambivalent about true crime all my life... and doing the Thing I Do For Money absolutely makes me fear being stained by blood and greed. Definitely the Substack for me.
