Got to say if Ben Whitehouse was reffing this Glasgow game, and Dragons were a Scottish team, they’d have had a couple of YCs by now…

Missing their big ball carriers (both Fagersons and Dempsey) and it shows…

Indeed. The earlier poster was equating the Gaelic languages with (modern) national identities. Lowland Scots have never spoken Gaelic as a first language. Yet they spoke Scots (closer in dialect to germanic english) and still had that beaten out of them in schools…

Steady!! Next you’ll be suggesting that Wales has never actually been an independent country!

Regards 1. Everitt is not the right person for the job. He doesn’t even seem to be able to convey a workable game plan.

Regards 2. Whoever is appointed must be able to do whatever it takes, including hiring and firing. The SRU must give complete (and very visible) support to this.

There’s something deeply wrong with the club culture. I believe it’s only fixable if 2 things happen.

1. The right coach needs to be appointed to turn it around (likely take 2-3 years).
2. The coach needs to be given absolute freedom (and support) to make changes they believe necessary.

I’m not sure what an international coach does outside the international window.

However, if there is no impact at all, that implies it was never a full time job and he may as well have been taking every other Friday off to play golf…

Holy f*ck!! Is this now? it’s only just October FFS!!!

Honestly mate, your list is so close to being the same as mine it’s ridiculous! 😂

Been looking for a way to describe that last try by Chile that didn’t involve hyperbole, but have failed.

Swashbuckling rugby is the only description that fits. Any other team would have kicked the laces off the ball in that position. To run it from there, in that position, and score, was magical!

Some of the rugby being played by Chile is actually making me laugh as I’m watching it! Fabulous, bonkers, adventurous stuff!!

For anyone not watching it, the Chile v Samoa game is absolutely entertaining rugby.

Added to by the amusement of the USA commentator trying to pronounce the Samoan names.

Good job Alan Alaalatoa isn’t playing for Samoa or I think his head may explode! 😂

Interesting to see Luke Pearce (rightly) marching Samoa 10m on a penalty for mouthing off.

We don’t see much (enough?) of this in tier 1 matches and I wonder if that’s a deliberate decision by World Rugby…

Massive game for both countries. Last week was an amazing game that ended with honours even. It’s all down to this as to who qualifies for the men’s RWC in 2027….

We take our commitment to high quality entertainment very seriously, so this season we've decided to implement a Doddie Weir Pun-ishment Kitty. Every time you catch us use terrible wordplay flag it and the offender will be justly punished. Kitty donated to My Name's Doddie at season's end

I’ve only been watching highlights as I don’t have Sky. But they’re really bloody disgraceful.

Wales fans, riddle me this please. Why has Morgan Morse not got an international cap yet? I appreciate he’s only a youngster, but I’ve been impressed with him every time I’ve seen him play. Every ounce the modern back-rower.

Of all the pundits, I’ve generally found Brian Moore to be very even-handed. I miss his contributions in the men’s game.

I have, in the past, wondered if a Scot once stole his lunch money. However today he was multilaterally shocking.

Some truly baffling calls, my favourite being when he asked the TMO to check if Ben Healy had carried back into his 22 before kicking so he could award a 50-22… Seriously… 😳
borderbadger.bsky.social
Honestly think Whitehouse is dreadful. However, he didn’t cause that loss. Edinburgh’s lack of shape, workable game plan and discipline caused that loss.
borderbadger.bsky.social
And even SA, who arguably have that pack, have recognised that they can’t get away with doing only that in the modern game and are beginning to diversify how they play.
borderbadger.bsky.social
The problem with basic is that it’s very easy for the oppo to read and, therefore, counteract.

If all Edinburgh are doing is going route 1 through the forwards and, when that doesn’t work, going route 1 through the forwards, etc… any half decent team will be able to defend it.

Some of the “stuff” that’s been let off by refs in the tournament has been pretty poor. It must be WR instructions. Think about Ireland v France. 2 RC incidents that were cited in retrospect, one of which was very obvious during the match and a straight red (rather than bench review).

There seems to be no attempt to create space for the back 3. In Goosen and Patterson there’s serious amounts of gas and attacking nouse on the outside but they didn’t even seem to be even trying to create anything for them.
