While I was in the Navy I once had to tell a Lieutenant Commander that I could not do what he instructed me to do because it was an unlawful order. When called to the Executive Officer's office you'd better bet I had Navy regulations with the proper wording highlighted in my back pocket.

The GOP has made it clear they have no interest in compromise with Dems. So they will have to figure how to reopen their govt that they closed.
