Stand UP, Stand OUT
Many of us are echoing @timothysnyder.bsky.social's lesson in On Tyranny, "Do not obey in advance.”

A no less vital admonition that deserves attn:

STAND OUT

“...without that unease, there is no freedom. The moment you set an example, the spell of the status quo is broken, and others will follow."
This is transparency!
Let's see admin match it by releasing the testimony

The MOST TRANSPARENT president in history
So the "most transparent president in history" won't let Jack Smith's testimony become public. He's got them holding back tens of thousands of Epstein documents, haven't seen his taxes, his school records, and no one knows why the East Wing was destroyed before he even had ballroom plans. Yeah.

Pretty straightforward.
MAGA: take note
BREAKING: Jack Smith just revealed that Trump broke the law, in his statement to the House.

"Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and to prevent the lawful transfer of power."

If you're calling R congressperson to encourage him/her to vote for extension of ACA subsidies, this might be a good way to get through--
(bc they're going to push back on a quintessentially Democratic argument)

IMO, this R approach may be more likely to get the vote

Being thoughtful abt reaching your audience is one thing.

But primarily playing for your audience's approval, that's something else... and can lead down a bankrupt road

Thread: Martina. Bulgaria, Georgia.

Step up. Stand out.

Before it doesn't matter
"I defected from a totalitarian regime, and like hell am I going to be cowed again," & "I'm pissed off as hell about people capitulating to Trump"

She warns that people voting for such leaders are choosing "the same ball of wax" she fled, where figures dictate life, rights, & feelings.

Rob Reiner was more than an amazing movie director to me.

He was one of our strongest public advocates for @TheDemCoalition, part of our Impeachment Task Force.

He was one of America's foremost voices of reason and wisest defenders of democracy.

Rob is an American treasure.

“He is not unstoppable and you are not without power”

Remind yourself of this every day.

Especially on the bad days.
Buttigieg on Indiana: "The big part of how Trumpism works is to make you feel totally disempowered. To make him feel inevitable. And yet the clear takeaway from this is he is not unstoppable and you are not without power."

It is absolutely wild that the guy who won’t stop yelling about law and order is now personally stepping in to keep January 6 documents hidden from the police officers who were attacked that day. He knows exactly what’s in those files and he is terrified the country will see it.

This is a perfect example as to why we need AI regulation yesterday.

AI cannot be the arbiter of whether human beings can live or die. This is an excuse for insurance companies to fire human workers and make our healthcare system even more nightmarish for a quick buck.

private AI companies that get paid based on how many claims they deny..."

This totally sucks. Paramount+ is owned by the Ellisons, strong trump supporters.
Its a push to control all major media outlets (P+ recently bought CBS).

The more they buy, the more propaganda can be repeated over & over
