We played a couple of shorter games one evening. First a game of Habitats, A managed to make most of their animals happy and do well on the end of round bonuses. We finished with Footsteps of Darwin which M won by having more compass and map bonuses. An animal based evening! #boardgames#habitats
During Covid we played a lot of co-ops, buying quite a few including Roll For Adventure. It was played a lot in 2021 but not much since. Yesterday we pulled it off the shelf and enjoyed our game after reminding ourselves of the rules. #boardgames#rollforadventure
Another game of I made you a mixtape. M is much better at making a balanced set of songs. Maybe if A started singing some of the tracks it would be enough to put M off doing so well! #boardgames#imadeyouamixtape
We’ve been working our way through There and back again. So far we’ve played the first three chapters. We have drawn on points in a couple of games, taking different routes to points. A great roll and write. #boardgames#thereandbackagain
Our first two plays of I Made You A Mixtape. It has a good crunchy feeling for a lighter game. Choosing which cards to put in the I cut you chose is quite difficult as is ending the game with a good balance between side A and side B. We enjoyed it! #boardgames#imadeyouamixtape
Yesterday was a good day for games! Two of our kickstarters arrived, I Made You A Mixtape (which we play tested an early version of) and Fighting Fantasy Adventures. We finally got a copy of Earthborne Rangers and the roll and write There and Back Again. Who needs Essen?! #boardgames
Dominion was a game we bought years ago when we started our journey into the wonderful world of board games. It felt nice to dust it off this evening and play a couple of hands. M won both games. #boardgames#dominion
As autumn begins it felt appropriate to play Creature Comforts. We built lots of warm items like a quilt, made a nice lot of mushroom soup and a flute to keep us entertained. M won by placing two more buildings giving them two more points. #boardgames#creaturecomforts
We had very little time yesterday to play games but managed to fit in a play of the excellent Faraway. We both seemed to be doing well but M some how managed to score over 100! We definitely recommend the people from below expansion. #boardgames#faraway
Terra cimmeria TM board today. Game play was fairly slow as it look a long time to place all the ocean tiles. M had a lot more in game score but A had a lot of cities with greenery round them, winning by 5 points. #boardgames#terraformingmars
Amazingly our game of Cartographers was a draw! We were invaded by insectiods, flayed and the frost giants advanced. The volcano was very active causing a huge lava flow. Defiantly our current favourite flip and write. #boardgames#cartographers
M decided they wanted a game of Llamaland. Whilst A enjoys the game they find shapes quite challenging. Fun was had as we made landscapes and grew plants to feed our llamas. Putting down scoring tokens before the end of the game adds some focus. #boardgames#llamaland
Sorcerer City. We found the Dark Mage and the Giant quite irritating (the whole point of the monsters!). The game was quite close A only winning by 6 points. We use the app for the timer, but today we tried out the sand timer to find it was 7 seconds faster! #boardgames#sorcerercity
We dusted off Oltreé today. It didn’t go well, we struggled to keep trouble cards out of the Satrapy. Unlucky dice rolls didn’t help either. We managed to just get a minor victory. #boardgames#oltree
Another game of Creature Caravan. A had incentive to fight at least 4 Ember zombies, whilst M had the card which meant no zombies were collected. Despite getting to the city M lost, it’s good to know that travelling isn’t the only route to victory. #boardgames#creaturecaravan
After sitting on the shelf of opportunity for over a year we finally played Subterra 2. We lost badly by splitting up our adventures. We should have known better having played the original Subterra many times! Despite our failure we enjoyed the game. #boardgames#subterra2
We don’t play Underwater Cities very often. This week M started a 3 player game on Yucata and we played the cardboard version. This game only took about an hour and 10 minutes, M won by a fairly large margin. #boardgames#underwatercities
We are really enjoying Sail. In this game we managed to sail quite quickly to our destination. Putting cards in the kraken deck is just as important as moving. #boardgames#sail
Life of the Amazonia was dusted off. We are currently unsure if this is a keeper. We like the theme and enjoy bag building but M is so much better and more efficient than A. Whilst winning isn’t everything knowing you’ve lost so early on isn’t fun. #boardgames#amazonia
A couple of quick games before bed. District Noir a push your luck two player game, we both gained a victory each. We followed this by a very old favourite Port Royal. M won 13 points to A’s 12, it reminded us to try the co op version again. #boardgames#districtnoir
In The Footsteps of Darwin with expansion. M was initially a little reluctant to buy the expansion thinking it would detract from the simplicity. We both now agree that for us it adds more interest by adding a few goals and the opportunity to get more animals. #boardgames#footstepsofDarwin
We’ve played It’s a wonderful world over 80 times. Most of those games have been with our copy and the corruption expansion. The BGA implementation is the base game only but we still enjoy playing it turn based with a friend. M won this game by a fair margin. #boardgames#itsawonderfulworld
A quick couple of games of Caracas. Despite having managed to collect a lot of monkeys in one game and unusual animals in another, A lost both games. Too many mistakes were made (rivers that don’t connect to other rivers). A fun tile laying game similar to Cascadia. #boardgames#caracas
Wingspan was our Saturday afternoon choice of game. A placed two raptors that needed mice or cards which was unusual. M won by having scored more points on bonus cards. #boardgames#wingspan
