Since so many folks are popping over from TikTok, I’m doing a quick intro post with this ridiculous screenshot! I’m Sara! I got into modern board gaming in 2010; I’ve run Meetup groups in 2 different cities, corrupting the unexpecting; in Spring of 2024, I joined the @heavycardboard.bsky.social crew
Inferno! Got a chance to try this out yesterday. It’s dripping with hellish theme and does a great job tying the mechanics into the theme.

Flatiron is such a good 2 player (and I hear it’s a feisty solo! I haven’t tried it solo yet). The push/pull between players and the timing choices are tough!

I discovered my mom took pics on my phone while I was punching Civolution. The cat was helping.
Civolution is a beast to prep - there are double layered boards and terrain to sticker together. It’s completely worth it though! Look at the quality - I LOVE a box that tells you how to re-pack it!

Got to play Nemesis for the first time the other night. One
of my arms was ripped off by an alien. Then the other arm was blown off by a grenade chucked by a crew mate. Then I died. It was a glorious experience; I loved every minute of it.

Finally pulled together a consistent group of folks to play Spirit Island. I wanted to start trying different spirits and strategies, but it’s hard when the game always has to start with a teach.

My 2024 Goals:
- Log >600 plays
- Make >26 board game posts (I take more pictures than I post!)
- Play at least 20 games off my shelf of shame
- Play a game every day of the year (This is unlikely!)
- Play a 10x10 with my kids
