I call it “joyful rigor” when I explain this effort to my students. I don’t believe in or rather, I’m not a “suffering poet.” I’m a writer who enjoys writing. The work works on me and I’m grateful for the opportunity to delve into the process at my own pace and to be changed by it.

That’s the other thing that baffles me about AI and creative writing, actually.

The work IS the joy for me. I don’t want to be able to snap my fingers and have a completed “product.” I want to be transformed by the process. I’m an author but I do this because I enjoy the rigor of being a writer.

Please, even if you don't CARE if genAI is used for something like this, at the very least understand that actors were striking with genuine concerns and that Mihoyo, who just last month posted job applications for opportunities to work on their games using AI, do not have their protections in mind.

Anyway here's Mihoyo promoting AI assisted game production including:

"Efficiency in Image and Material Generation
With very few materials, they can generate character model sheets + 3D models, allowing for the testing of multiple designs and their artistic outcomes."

Something to keep an eye on.

Several months ago, actors made it clear that they were withholding work from Genshin Impact because of a lack of basic AI protections

Hoyo fans told them it would/could never be an issue

Most of my WoLs have at least one blue eye to keep them connected to Meteor/Ardbert/Azem, because the WoL's aether/soul colour is blue and I wanted to stay on theme 😂

Both of my Viera are the exceptions.

Being hardcoded to draw everything in 16:9 cause storyboards, then trying to draw a comic page like How To Not Draw Rectangle For Dummies.

What do you mean panels can be any shape you want, and not even have borders???
