I'm so tired of lukewarm centrists. If someone says 2 + 2 = 4 and someone else insists it's 5, the answer is not the arithmetic average. One of you is just wrong. Better yet is when one side confuses 2 for 5 and they're not even talking about the same math problem anymore.

What leadership with a brain will realize is that whatever is touted as "AI" in the current world is no different than any other tool; if you hand a scalpel to a trained surgeon, you can expect a surgery. If you hand it to some MBA, you can expect a malpractice suit. You still need domain expertise.

My favorite part of development is when I do nothing new, write zero changes, pull zero new branches, persist zero new data, use the same environment with the same configs... And the thing that didn't work yesterday Just Works™ now. It's almost a religious experience. Like something's out there.

The problem with most "rational debate" I see is that one side either has faulty rules of inference or simply cannot agree on a set of axioms that can be a shared truth. If I EVER have debate with someone, it begins with establishing definitions. If you can't do that, I have no interest in "debate".

My favorite part about software work is when I literally change nothing and the problem fixes itself. All at once I feel relieved, yet also hopelessly clueless as to what the fuck was actually going on.

Dude, I hate this shit. I got up at 7:00. It is now 9:55 and I'm still not at work. Which is 25 miles from my house. We could have nice roads. Or public transit. But instead the powers that be kill infrastructure projects they end up costing us so much more in lost productivity. Make it make sense.
