To me.. it feels more like they just dont trust either the player or their own toolset. Its a shame. Anyway. Maybe ill get further than a few hours in this time

But the biggest problem with thief 4 is see is choice. The levels are designed around 1 or 2 choices forward at a time.. both leading the same way. Theres choice illusion but not actual freedom. Level designers think they are making a curated but empowering experience when they do this. They arent.

Back when I made tog, my due date was "before thief 4 ships".. i was so excited for this game. And to date ive never made it more than about 4 hours in. And I suffered through all of thief 3 (sorry folks, but its just not anywhere near 1/2).

It DOES do some interesting things.. like the smart screen flash when you become visible.. that are smart.. but there are so many missteps. Confusing-yet-oddly-linear level design, zero-sum nav choices, movement logic and anims directly borrowed from assasins creed, the stupid zoom in button..

Been trying to play thief 2013 again.. and man.. my save files tell an interesting story here. Seems every six years I want to give it a chance.
