BMMA’s Workforce Development team, represented by Ayanna Woolfork and Milan Spencer, traveled to Sacramento, CA, for the California Black Birth Equity Summit.

They both delivered an oral presentation sharing insights from BMMA’s workforce development efforts and our incubator hub model.

Our Clinical Stakeholder Meeting, held in October, affirmed what we already know to be true, but often goes unsaid: the perinatal, maternal, & reproductive health workforce is carrying far more than their clinical duties.

Public health degrees are not secondary. They are not optional.

Our work in Black Maternal Health, in community care, & in advancing health equity are ESSENTIAL public health work. The reclassification of public health degrees undermines an entire field we are part of & depend on. We reject this.

BMMA had an incredible time as an exhibitor at the Black Maternal Health Expo inside the Babypalooza Baby Expo. We met so many expecting families, shared resources on Black Maternal Health, and uplifted the work of local partners supporting Black Mamas across Georgia.

Contraceptive access is essential for reproductive justice, & it supports everyone in planning pregnancies safely & on their own terms.

Across the US, policies continue to shift, insurance coverage varies by state, & ongoing federal & state level debates continue to shape what care is available.
