“If you live in a 15 minute city but your barista can’t afford to live there too, you don’t live in a 15 minute city, you live in a theme park.“
who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.
I love his symphonies. I think 5, 6, 7, and 8 are especially strong.

The best thing about the clocks going back and getting an extra hour in bed is that when you wake up as usual, paralysed by dread at 3am, you find it’s only 2am and oh god the aching void of night will never end.
I was expecting: “…and I decided to shave my head and raise money for cancer!”

What if A.I. writes the demo for a pop song, and then a human band takes it from there and records the version of the song that gets released?

I need to figure out what I like of theirs after Daimonion. I’ll take a recommendation if you have one.

We need immigrants to bolster the workforce, otherwise the working-age population is too small to support the elderly population. So if retiring is part of the American dream, this cartoon is completely backwards.

Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Greg Newby, who led Project Gutenberg ( @gutenberg.org ) with passion and purpose. Greg’s belief in free and open access to knowledge continues to inspire us and so many others working to preserve our shared culture online. gutenberg.org/about/newby....
I judge breakfast places by their potatoes. Some places just phone it in, others understand how important breakfast potatoes / hash browns / etc are. :-)

I've been toying w/ the idea of hitting GR to see NIN w/ Diaz and @saga.iam.bi, but we'll see. It's been ages since I've traveled to see a show.
The definition of depolarizing means each side has to denounce its extremists and embrace a few centrist ideas that amount to an overlap/consensus between the Red and Blue teams. Sounds nice but I’m not sure how that happens in this current political climate.
Listen to this earnest, optimistic, and simple sounding piece of music from yesteryear. Who is writing music in this vein today? www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a-H... #musicsky #vangelis

Thank you. I will investigate. My main Arnold exposure is the symphonies (I tried Handley and Penny, prefer Penny).
When I hear Mike Johnson talk on TV, all I hear is a public relations person. Every large corporation and industry group has them. Their job is to lie their faces off, professionally, with a smile. :-)
I am completely awestruck by the ease with which Mike Johnson lies on a daily basis. I'll never understand how such a transparently fraudulent "man of faith" can live with themselves. Life is too short to be that phony.

This is what I love about social media at its best. Before today, I had never listened to any of Julius Eastman’s minimalist masterpieces.
After @nilstregenza.bsky.social tipped me to his work, I started exploring and now I can’t stop listening to his music. Genius!! ❤️🙏
