Happy World Migratory Bird Day! Today we celebrate the incredible journeys of migratory birds and the importance of bird-safe cities. At Birds Connect Seattle, we’re working to create shared spaces where both people and birds can thrive safely.
This week we participated in the King County Employee Non-profit Expo. It was wonderful to connect with other nonprofits doing vital work in our community, and to talk to folks about birds and local conservation initiatives.

What a view of the great city we all call home!
Come celebrate owl month with us tomorrow for our owl themed Social Hour. Learn about owl adaptations, touch some real owl specimens, and maybe even dissect an owl pellet!

Ducks and seabirds are returning to Seattle—but many face declining habitats and uncertain futures.

We’re working to protect the places they rely on and we need your help to do it.

Your donation helps give birds a safe place this fall.

Short-eared Owls are medium-sized owls with mottled brown and buff plumage. They have short ear-tufts that are often held down. They are especially active at dawn and dusk, and perform dramatic courtship flights during breeding season. Buoyant wing-beats give them a distinctive moth-like appearance.

Highly social birds, Bushtits are usually found in flocks of 40 or more. In cold weather, the group may huddle together at communal roosts to stay warm. They glean food from leaves and twigs, often hanging upside-down to get at the undersides of leaves.
