Je me suis aperçu que les choses qui ne sont pas notées se perdent à jamais.
L’écriture garde la trace de ce qui était fragile, passant, et si vital. En cela, elle permet de maintenir le vol même de la vie.

Incredible location. Sadly I am not sure how I felt about the film. I really wanted to like it but nothing really stood out as spectacular
If you thought Frankenstein's Tower in the Guillermo del Toro movie looked cool, check out the real-world inspiration behind it...

Is it cheating, or can you say you read a book when you actually listened to the audiobook?

I was given three choices of book for the next episode. The challenge for @bingewriting.bsky.social - a book where no one dies.
Behind Frenemy Lines by Zen Cho @zenaldehyde.bsky.social

When he told me the title I instantly knew it was this one! Cannot wait to get my teeth into it!

On this, the last day of Samhain, we celebrate the last day of harvest, the slow trudge towards darkness that yet promises light.

What are your most hopeful or agricultural reads to share with everyone?

Ok we need to talk about Heelys as I have an important question.

Yay or Nay on an MC in a fairly serious story wearing them consistently throughout a novel?

I have discovered why this book was sold by its former owner -Stewart’s Melville College library in Edinburgh

‘Good condition’ my arse. But in all fairness it doesn’t bother me, I quite like it tbh. Gives the book character.

If anyone knows what it says on page 121 lines 19-22 of Xenos thenLMK

Another thing an e-reader can never emulate!

I love buying a second hand book and finding the library tag in the front. In an odd way it makes you feel connected to the many readers of this same copy before you.

So thank you Stewart’s Melville College Library!

Been doing some more research on gender and reading. According to the US National Endowment for Arts

‘54.6 percent of women were estimated to have [read a fiction novel], compared with 35.1 percent of men.’

AND THIS WAS IN 2012! I dread to think what it’s like today!

I may have been living under a rock but I just found out men read far fewer novels than women.

In my group I was the one that didn’t read until recently and I’m glad I picked the habit up again.

Is it just not cool to read or is it other things? The internet can’t seem to give a good answer. 📚💬

Coming tomorrow our first episode on a piece of literary fiction! The immense Homefire by Kamila Shamsie @kshams.bsky.social

A story we both felt very strongly about having both lived in the UK at the rise of ISIS and the subsequent Islamophobia that is still all too rife in England. 💙📚

Ok boomer rant but I just saw an ad on national bloody television (channel 4) where they mixed up ‘fewer’ and ‘less’. I know language changes but it still irritates the tits off me!
