Thanks to good governance champion, Forrest Miller, @forrestmiller4va.bsky.social, for supporting the need for campaign finance reform. Getting big money out of our elections and politics is, indeed, the way to "restore the People's trust in Government". Forrest is running in VA district 63.
Most recent BigMoneyOutVA newsletter. Check out the great news from Blacksburg. Let's get other jurisdictions from around Virginia to commit to support campaign finance reform.

Great👍 panel discussion at Women's Summit with colleagues from Sierra Club, Freedom Virginia, and Climate Change and Clean Energy Group. The workshop on money in politics was animated by having @pwcdanica.bsky.social and Kannan Srinivasan share their views on the issues & entry points for action.
Great reporting by David Poole. Here's a shout out📢 for Delegate David Bulova, good governance champion👍 , who finally got this oversight bill passed three years ago!!! Virginia campaign finance laws take first step beyond honor system cardinalnews.org/2025/06/12/v... via @cardinalnewsva

Thank Dist 68 VA candidate Elaine Walters, @elainescampaign.bsky.social, for supporting campaign finance reform. She doesn't want a "system serving the wealthy, rather than the general populace". Check out her responses to the Good Governance Scorecard www.vagoodgovscorecard.org/candidate-re...
Yes! 👍 Another good governance champion supports reforms to build confidence that our institutions actually do work for average Virginians. Thanks, Victor Salgado, ‪@victorforvirginia.bsky.social‬, running for LT Governor, for filling in the VA Good Governance Scorecard www.vagoodgovscorecard.org
Let's have a shout out 📢 for Virginia good governance champions, like @shelly_simonds who is running in VA House district 70. We totally agree with her that "it is time to return political power to the people and rebuild trust in our democracy".
Interesting article but I think that this bill is unconstitutional. Spending can't be restricting because of Buckley vs Valeo ruling that money is speech. Bill to limit out-of-state donations to Texas candidates gets House approval www.texastribune.org/2025/05/14/t... via @TexasTribune
Bill to limit out-of-state donations to Texas candidates gets House approval
The bill would cap out-of-state political donations to a candidate or lawmaker to $5,000 for a statewide election, $2,500 for a district office and $1,000 for a county office.

Thanks to @issueonereform.bsky.social for highlighting the increasing corruption which is transforming our democracy into an oligarchy. The "people" deserve to have a government which listens to their voices, not those of wealthy donors. #peoplepower
“These political contributions are essentially legalized bribes... As the Senate considers Long’s nomination, senators would be wise to ask whether these donors will receive preferential treatment by the agency,” says Issue One's @mjbeckel.bsky.social.
When Donald Trump nominated former GOP Congressman Billy Long to lead the IRS in December, Long's failed Senate bid had $130,000 in debt from loans Long had made to his campaign.

New FEC filings show Long raised $136,900 in Q1 — more than enough to repay himself docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/form...
Thanks to our VA Democracy Warriors who came out to our VA #moneyout Happy Hour where we celebrated the passage of the campaign finance bill restricting personal use of campaign donations! Thanks to legislators @davidbulova, @marcussimon.com , & Karen from @jenniferboysko.com office. #peoplepower
Let's ask all VA candidates (Ds, Rs, & Inds) to support campaign finance reform. Thanks👍to Jessica Anderson, running in VA-District71, who agrees that to restore integrity to our VA elections, we need to have our VA GA pass comprehensive campaign finance reform. @usapromise sanderson4va.bsky.social
Great that the Arizona "voters right to know" disclosure bill continues to be ruled constitutional by the courts! Without transparency into election spending, voters don’t know who is trying to influence elections. Let's pass dark money disclosure bills in VA!

Congratuations👍to Sen. Jennifer Boysko and Del Josh Cole for getting a bill restricting personal use of campaign funds finally over the goal line. After a decade (❤️@marcussimon.com), it was finally signed into law by the Governor yesterday. One step closer to broad based campaign finance reform.
Thanks to @marcussimon.com for signing our MoneyOut pledge. Delegate Simon, running in VA-13th district, has been a continual supporter of campaign finance bills for a decade. His bill restricting personal use of campaign funds, which he introduced in 2014, was finally passed into law this year.👍
