Sculpture and installation by Lingít and Unangax̂ artist Nicholas Galanin, 2010s-20s, whose practice "aims to redress the widespread misappropriation of Indigenous visual culture, the impact of colonialism, as well as collective amnesia."
Animal hide hanging on a white wall, dyed a deep cobalt blue. It is printed with a white floor plan outline and depictions of Indigenous objects, with a dotted line serving as an "escape plan" for objects in museum collections to leave the building. Two sculptures in a gallery tableau: A taxidermied polar bear with a flattened backside, and an abstract wall piece with hanging textile pieces and medallions. The latter is a collaboration with Nep Sidhu. Neon light installation of a large dark wall with neon text in red: "I've composed a new American national anthem.
