very po-faced from the FT. Timing isn't everything for the OBR. But getting figures right is - it didn't do that yesterday and has adjusted hugely overnight its calculation of the budget measures' effects on EV sales
"If the OBR cannot organise its document handling, how can we trust it to get the judgment on productivity or the tax richness of GDP forecasts right?" Well, because they're different things, for one. www.ft.com/content/b1af...
The OBR’s careless leak has damaged us all
The fiscal watchdog’s error is worse than other Budget leaks because it exists solely to improve the process

Think you've had a bad week? imagine being the OBR.

It confirms it 'corrected' its EV sales projection, without saying why. Now sees the budget's effect on EV sales as a net 120,000 reduction by 2030-31, from a net 310,000 reduction in the original document.
OBR appears to have silently revised overnight its projections for the pay-per-mile effect on UK EV sales. On the left, the existing document forecasting a net 120,000 drop in sales; on the right, yesterday's projection of a net 310,000 fall

FYI: this happened today after a late session price COLLAPSE (0.8p/th wiped off) so we are now officially in multi year low territory.
We're now looking at multi year lows.

Front month (Dec contract) at 76.3p/th. If it sheds another 0.2p (and closes below that level), you have to go back to late 2021 to find a corresponding price level.

That was the early bit of Gazprom's EU market destruction stage of the energy crisis.
UK front month gas prices are moving into year+ low territory.

Not by much, granted, but the December contract (now front month) hasn't closed sub-80p/th since Feb-24 and sits at 79.8-ish now.

Loads of regas capacity, plus loads of supply (and relatively low global competition) equals...

Yikes. UK OBR sees North Sea revenues dropping from £2.7 billion in 2025-26 to £0.3 billion in 2030-31.
