It Is certainly possible to evaluate both groups, but group 2 requires a lot more work. Akiva is clearly talking about group 2. Until now, you had not clarified you were referring to 1.
Who is “they”? You quote posted a skeet about “the Jewish right“. Akiva is saying the pundits you reference are atypical of the Jewish right. Are you saying this is the typical position of the Jewish right or are you limiting ”them” to a few right wing Jewish pundits?
