Today is the centenary of the birth of the great Tony Hart who opened the eyes of generations to visual art and who is forever associated with this, the shimmering Gallery theme from Vision On – which was also pretty much everyone’s introduction to the vibraphone. youtu.be/-ZNkJXKV7_w

Often use the shipping forecast to get to sleep, it's the wonderful cadence of those names. When not asleep give a little cheer for the places I know. Magical

I kept an eye out for Death wandering around whenever I was near open water.
In other news I think I spotted Jean Boht pre Bread in one of those films

Pick your own topics for a completely pointless if fun exercise. Sauropoda tp Bach was much more straightforward.

Thrilled by this, as had just assumed the hotel no longer existed

Turns out you can stay in the Eastbourne hotel room where Debussy wrote much of La mer. They've called it the Debussy Suite (Suite bergamasque was right there)
Hotel room with large bed and desk, and pictures of Debussy, the sea and the score of La mer on the wall

Much amused by the version of Saltarello played on the Early Music Show, which sounds as though someone is playing the spoons (perfectly possible, I guess!)

Thought Silence of the girls was amazing.

Been quite a while since I read that, but yes, I can imagine the feeling.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Brilliant writing but can't say it's an easy read. It may have been written in 1954, but there's much that feels eerily familiar...

Lovely Errol. Sorry to hear he's been poorly again. Little tough guy

Coo! Just saw the helicopter crew that rescued me after breaking my hand on the Isles of Scilly, on Coastguard SOS. Lovely to see Bungi & Co. doing the job they do so well. Thank you again.

I've always had a soft spot for it since leaving Westminster Abbey (pre-charging) in a huff when they evicted a tramp on a freezing cold day. Went over to Westminster Cathedral, where there were several all snoozing gently in pews, with a nun prodding them occasionally to check they were OK.

You know you must be getting old when you spot a list of historic fiction set in the 1980's, and think that it doesn't really feel historic when you've lived through it
