First and foremost, biodiversity: Frogs; Snakes; Bees but the wild kinds; Birds but not a birder. Occasional politics, of the woke, pro-Rejoin kind. Si j'avais le choix, je serais à Toulouse. SW London. Crepuscular.

You too! This is a narrow- leaved ash from my local park, one of several that put on a fabulous show at this time of year.

Lovely, never see them here in London, although they do sporadically appear.

Yes, it was. Needed that.

We had this recipe from Ottolenghi's Comfort book. My wife and I enjoyed it so recommended, although one child said, ok, but shame about the mushrooms and the other one said, you *know* i don't like oily, garlicky type pasta...

My #allotment edible hedge (for wildlife not me) has pushed the boat out this year with two sparkling spindle berries. Always unexpectedly bright.

Depends if it's pizza or pasta bolognese. Everything else can get lost.

Oh, how fabulous, Brigit. The grass snake didn't show up in the garden this year - it's OK, i had swifts and brown hairstreaks - but I've missed it nonetheless...

Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.
An owl handler I met (although not the one in my anecdote) with his beautiful owl.
