#NeverForget means making sure they receive the care they deserve
Yesterday, I paid tribute to our fallen heros of September 11th, attending events at jacobincbhosp and Throggs Neck.

God bless those who we have lost, their memories, their families, and those who continue to suffer the health side effects of that day.
In this week’s #MinuteWithMike I discuss something new our students will be dealing with this year, the cell phone ban. Good luck to everyone who is starting classes today!

#MinuteWithMike- As a former special education teacher for nearly 30 years, what happens to our students most in need of services is very important to me. Just last week, AG Tish James and the New York State Education Department took the Trump administration to court to
My staff and I fight for every neighborhood within my district, including the smaller neighborhoods, to get the resources they need.

Today’s result is a great example of the good things that can happen when we are persistent.
3PK is coming to City Island this September!

I am thrilled that after years of advocacy, my office received word today that our calls for 3PK on City Island have been approved. PS 175 will host this program starting next month!
I also urge my constituents to attend the two public hearings of the Bally’s New York Casino Community Advisory Committee so they can share their thoughts and concerns. Working together, we can incorporate many possible solutions into this proposal.“
Our community has real needs that, unfortunately, sometimes cost a great deal of money. This possibility provides another opportunity to address those needs.
I also want to work with my partners in elected office to ensure that our community gets the maximum community benefits possible from this arrangement. Saving Preston High School was a good start, but it shouldn’t end there.
Going forward, we still have issues to address related to public safety, traffic and transit, and the environment. I plan on being an active participant in addressing every possible concern associated with a potential casino.
Additionally, to give some context on the economic impact of this proposal, if approved, Bally’s would instantly become the second-largest employer in the Bronx. For too long, people have scoffed when good-paying projects were proposed for the Bronx, no longer is that the case.
This proposal gives us a chance to get 4,000 permanent, good-paying union jobs right in our backyard; no one should mock or look down on that. There is dignity in all work.
“I commend Mayor Adams for making the right decision in vetoing this misguided bill and salute our Bronx City Council Delegation for making sure our Borough is given a fair chance to compete for this one-in-a-generation economic opportunity.
A Statement from Assembly Member Michael Benedetto, regarding Mayor Adam’s recent veto of the City Council’s Disapproval Vote.
I pray for his family, including his wife and young children, and for the continued wellbeing of his fellow officers who continue to keep us safe from harm.

We see you and appreciate you. (3/3)
I am particularly saddened by the loss of NYPD Police Officer Didarul Islam, a Bronxite who worked at the neighboring 47th Precinct. Officer Islam came to this country as an immigrant from Bangladesh and became the very best our City had to offer. (2/3)
I join every New Yorker in mourning the tragic loss of life yesterday in midtown Manhattan. Four unique individuals had their lives suddenly cut short by a gunman, suffering from mental health issues, who carried a weapon of war across this country into our City. (1/3)
In the meantime, as there have been an uptick in these type of incidents within parks in my district, I will be meeting with NYPD leaders to discuss ways to be helpful to addressing these matters going forward to keep all New Yorkers safe. (2/2)
I am alarmed and saddened by the recent shooting incidents near Ferry Point Park. My office has been in touch with the 45th Precinct, and these situations are still active investigations. We will share more information as it becomes available. (1/2)
