Most of my Christmas memories were a blur of long working hours, but I am sure there must have been some joyous moments. By the way, my younger daughter, after her MA at Edinburgh Univ. has finished Physiotherapy training and is delighted to have secured a Physio post at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary!

@jonsavage.bsky.social Have you read "Gathered From Coincidence : A singular history of sixties' pop" by Tony Dunsbee? Your opinion might help me to decide whether to buy it, Jon. Thanks.

Thank you to all the Chave clan for your hard work today. Very worthwhile and much appreciated.

On St David's day a few years ago I took a video of a chiffchaff hovering and feeding on maybe insects in Euphorbia flowers outside my kitchen door in Exeter. Two other people on a bird forum seem to have observed similar behaviour. Expert observations welcome. @britishbirds.bsky.social #chiffchaff

Are the postural hypotension cases largely related to side effects of medication?

Thank you @maryannehobbs.bsky.social for the "Conversations with Polly Jean Harvey" swiftly followed by "Conversations with Nick Cave". Could not think of more perfect company whilst alone preparing veg for my family on Christmas Day. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

This is a delight. Simon Armitage's "The Owl and the Nightingale". Elegant and hilarious writing beautifully read by Rachael Stirling and Maxine Peake. Rachael's voice reminded me of her saying 'Guy Garvey's Finest Hour, one hour too long" and made me smile.
A Christmas Eve treat for your listening pleasure. Simon Armitage’s highly engaging new translation of the lively medieval poem The Owl and the Nightingale, performed by the poet himself, Maxine Peake and Rachael Stirling.

I had not heard "Morcheeba" for quite a while. This recording from St. Moritz Festival de Jazz 2024 well worth a listen. Skye's wonderful voice in a spectacular setting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ_q...

A couple of images of the man himself. A clay maquette my older daughter, Emma Sheridan created in 2020. Inspiration for the hair kindly from @the-independent.com cartoonist Dave Brown.

Well, I was feeling doubtful, but that has helped me to make my decision whether to go. Thanks Gary.

I was in France when these documentaries were transmitted. I watched them and found them beautifully made as well as profoundly moving. Thank you to all those who worked to create them.

Thanks for this entertaining review Gary. A few days ago I attended a screening of "Becoming Cary Grant" directed by Mark Kidel. Kidel was present and utterly fascinating. Interesting to note that Joan started her career as a dancer in traveling theatrical companies, as did the young Archie Leach.

I have just arrived here and am looking forward to meeting new friends, sharing, learning and exploring. My first post is a quick sketch I did from a photograph in a Sunday newspaper many years ago : the artist Francis Bacon's mother having tea with him in The Ritz London.
