A bright and sunny day greeting folk who assembled adjacent to the Chilwell Road Co-op. Civic Society executive members were on hand to liaise with a group who had not seen the social media notices of cancellation (our expert Anna Wheelhouse having fallen victim of a local lurgy). With upwards of twenty folks in attendance hot-weather necessitated precautionary measures about hydration and congregating in shade.

The Civic Society are buzzing to launch the Beeston Bee Trail in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council – an interactive experience celebrating bees, biodiversity, and Beeston’s unique community spirit, thanks to a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Launching on Saturday 1 November, the trail invites families, nature lovers, and curious explorers to follow a series of bee-themed markers across Beeston town centre.

On Sunday 28th September, bright and early, Darrell (aka the artist @soapspray90) started transforming a large graffitied Severn Trent Utility Box in Cator Lane park. Utility boxes are everywhere and they aren't something you necessarily notice, even when they are covered in (in this case) offensive graffiti and ‘tagging’. It's just something that sort of seeps into your consciousness and forms part of the general feeling you have about where you live.
