Woke since 1946. Retired and now take care of my sister’s 7 rescued horses. I’m getting old and I don’t respond to personal messages. Remembering the 1950s and 60s, women and minorities were respected a lot less than they are now. I don’t want to go back.

The other horses do not approve of Hayla playing in the water.
Calypso thinks I have grass in my pockets for her and she’s right. The gate was mangled by a powerful mare, Willow. She got excited and it bent like a wet noodle.
Willow has been like a mother to Bubby. She kept him out of trouble when he was young hoodlum. I wonder what she was communicating. He was focused.
Bruiser the feral cat can’t be touched. I have been patiently and slowly gaining his trust. Today I invited him to sit beside me on a bench. He hopped up and sat with me for a moment.
It’s so hold I had a full head of hair .
1976. My sister and I in England.
He already has done that.
Portland is like that.
He was the best grandpa for me. He taught me the importance of empathy and emotional intelligence.
After long military service he relocated to Canada. After a very rough sea voyage he felt the need for a job on land.
Thanks. I enjoy them so much.
When I arrive at my sister’s house I feed the indoor cats then Bruiser the outdoor cat. The horses are waiting so I hurry to feed them. When they’re fed I see the cats watching for my required return to entertain them. Bruiser waits outside for me to keep him company.
Those staffers and coffee boys keep makin mistakes.
For more than 10 years Bruiser the feral cat has thrived outside. He can’t be touched. Our relationship formed around trust. I never violate his space. Bruiser was rescued and released with 4 other cats. He made them leave. I’m required to sit on a bench and keep him company twice a day.
Willow has a lot to say especially at dinner time. Once she turned to me and said, “Woo who hum.” When a prowler walked across the property she gave me an intense blow by blow report then leapt in the air spinning around to point where she last saw him. I wish I understood it all.
Yes, under 12” is just a pest or just a nuisance.
Kitto scanning the skies for UFOs.
Sister eating morning hay out of the rain.
Calypso and Willow.
I’m happy that this little horse knew I’d notice she was by herself waiting. Sometimes she needs some more affection. Calypso was born wild. When we met she was 4 months old and full of mischief.
They are all very happy there.
Bramble was the most extraordinary horse I’ve met. A Kiger Mustang she was very wise. She spent time with each horse regardless of pecking order. I learned from her too. She taught them to line up side by side. She’s been gone for years but if they are worried or scared they line up.
