So a margin call is when your lender gets worried. Say the price of the stock drops to $90, now if it drops lower then they might not get their money back. So the margin call is basically them saying "give me more money, or I sell the stocks now and you'll have lost your entire investment"

OK, not to get all econ but... buying on margin means buying with debt. Say you buy $100 worth of stock on margin and the mix is $10 of your own money and $90 borrowed. That means you can make a lot of money off a small bet(if it goes to $110, you cash out, pay the $90 and you've doubled your money)
