A short lived periodival during the (Dutch) Batavian Republic era (1795-1802). In Dutch it sounds pretty cool and there were two other radical democratic periodicals with almost the same name: De Burger Politieke Blixem and the Heer Politieke Blixem

No, this is not a real town but the Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen, in Holland, where a town around 1900 is recreated from houses from villages around the former Zuiderzee, now the IJsselmeer.

For reenactment you can’t use originals, but thanks to master pottery maker Aebele Trijsburg I can eat my porridge.

“Castle #Wedde”, in #Groningen, near the German border. A medieval stronghouse, now a hotel for children in need. Bishop van Galen made his headquarters here for a while.

Oh, great, taking a picture of a painting in a museum behind glass. This is Bernhard Johan Prott, defender of Bourtange in 1672 against the evil Munster Bishop van Galen. Died in Lutjegast, you know, where Abel Tasman came from, the guy that discovered Tasmania.

Oh, great, taking a picture of a painting in a museum behind glass. This is Bernhard Johan Prott, defender of Bourtange in 1672 against the evil Munster Bishop van Galen. Died in Lutjegast, you know, where Abel Tasman came from, the guy that discovered Tasmania.

An intentionally destroyed #BronzeAge #sword found in a burial at Blaubeuren-Asch. Bronze Age weapons deposited in burials were often bent or hacked into pieces before placed into the grave, in this way they 'died' with the owner. Dating 9th century BC.

An intentionally destroyed #BronzeAge #sword found in a burial at Blaubeuren-Asch. Bronze Age weapons deposited in burials were often bent or hacked into pieces before placed into the grave, in this way they 'died' with the owner. Dating 9th century BC.
