Also, I'm a bit jealous that my Toronto friend is experiencing the equivalent of 2022 but is probably going to see a win, but I'm also happy for them AND I want Vladdy to be a world champion

You would know better than me - I know it's mostly the time zone and lack of strong Japanese community, but could the boobird culture also be driving away Japanese talent? It feels like a very distinctly American thing.

Could see him as a Mariner (Geno is a free agent) or a Yank (I think he expressed interest in them) though the Mets might pursue him hard since none of their third base guys have worked out, they might lose their franchise first baseman, and his team in Japan (Yakult Swallows) are the Mets again.
