I think it would be enough to provide a 'partial' translation in this case so the reader doesn't feel like they're missing too much 🤔

I do like that approach, having common words be as they are in universe would definitely keep me immersed.
At least in my scenario each occurrence of the language barrier until now had been either ignored by the MC or something that was a second language.
