"i understand. i would feel the same way, too," soojin says with a soft smile before she turns to grab her forceps from her tray. "open for me."

jungha does and soojin gently tugs at her bottom lip to clamp, checking the alignment as her other hand holding the needle comes up and hovers above jungha's lip. "they say where your moles are placed are where your lover from your past life loved to kiss," she says, and pauses deliberately to lock eyes with jungha. "i have one on my chest."

jungha's eyes naturally drift to soojin's chest, despite all her efforts not to. her skin looks so soft and supple, and jungha's just staring, forgets what's even happening. it's unexpected when the needle pierces her flesh and she lets out a whine, not because of the discomfort, but because soojin's praising her for doing so well while she pushes the needle through and works quickly to insert the jewelry.

"you okay?" soojin asks, her gloved fingers against jungha's lips, in her mouth, a soothing pressure.

jungha gives soojin a small nod while she secures the jewelry, though she can feel her own body's betrayal in the tears stinging her eyes. soojin then holds jungha's chin and reaches for a gauze pad on her tray, dabbing them away as if it's a part of the process. "you're all done."

jungha's face, already warm, turns hot because soojin's smiling at her fondly. "i'm sorry," she says.

"why are you sorry?" soojin asks, letting go of jungha's chin, then starts to clean up, takes her gloves off. "it's a natural response.

"i meant about staring at your chest," jungha says, shyly, and she suddenly feels awkward and young at her admission.

"oh." soojin pauses to look at jungha. "i really am sorry if i made you uncomfortable."

jungha shakes her head. "that's not- no," she says, avoiding looking directly at soojin. she wants to bite her lip, but she can't, it's too tender. "it was a good distraction," she adds.

"good," soojin says, trying to suppress a chuckle, then considers jungha for a second. "i probably shouldn't be telling you this, but you're really beautiful, jungha-ssi, and i get the feeling you like being taken care of."

jungha's face reddens. she feels oddly exposed.

"i enjoy taking care of people, i always have," soojin says, putting a bag of aftercare together for jungha. she hands it to her, their fingers touching. "you need to come back in three weeks so i can resize your jewelry, but i, ah, would like to see you again sooner."

"sooner?" jungha asks.

"like take you out on a date, or not a date, if you prefer," soojin says. "i'm interested in getting to know you better."

the guiding steadiness of soojin's hand, sudden at the small of jungha's back, makes her shiver. they walk to the front counter and jungha takes out her wallet to pay.

"i slipped my number inside the bag. you can decide what you want to do with it. even if you don't want to contact me, you should still come back so i can check on how your lip is healing, okay?" soojin says, with a sweet smile.

there's really no reason for jungha to say no, not that she feels she needs one. the truth is a part of her wanted to get another piercing just to see soojin again, but she didn't anticipate this to happen. she hesitates but then blurts out, "i'd like that. a date."

"perfect," soojin says, and looks at jungha as if she's never been fonder of anything in her life.

jungha could fall in love.
