We don’t have to organize society around death dealing as a central concept (or discipline and punishment if you want to look at the prison industrial complex/ICE/policing).

Everything is a choice.

Start, like a household budget: what are our shared priorities? What do we have to have?

Shelter
Food
Clothing
Healthcare
Education
Jobs
Childcare
Clean environ

Oh–now the Pentagon budget can’t be larger than most countries’?

Plus we now have evidence that change can be dramatic so why NOT build the solutions–like universal healthcare–we want?

When so many jobs have been eliminated and so many flailing systems broken now beyond repair, I think even moderates are going to say – ok let’s rebuild radically w the good stuff

You’d think the lesson of 20th & 21st century genocide would be that any ppl can be monstrous, and perhaps identity labels, religion, and nationalities are useless in ascribing good guys and bad motives…

…that it’s whether you do good or evil that makes you good or evil.

We do it for ourselves. Because being in the company of many other people who care is to remember that we can be good and kind even under oppressive systems. We can show up for one another.
