The Australian Senate has accepted B4Ukraine’s submission to its inquiry on the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia.

Our recommendations:

1️⃣ Ban refined oil imports derived from Russian crude

The UK has imported £4B of jet fuel & other oil products from refineries that run partially on Russian crude since the start of the UK's ban on Russian oil in Dec 2022 until the end of 2025. Of this, £1.6B is estimated as being refined from Russian crude oil, according to @creacleanair.bsky.social.

Russia has taken control of 4 factories belonging to the Danish building materials giant Rockwool. We have warned them, including in person, that remaining in Russia is a growing liability rather than a sound business strategy. Rockwool is paying the price for short-sighted, greed-driven choices.

🔥 The UK gov has identified a legal basis to allow UK forces to board and detain vessels in Russia’s shadow fleet. We welcome this commitment. We also call for sanctions on LNG tankers shipping Russian gas and for secondary sanctions on refineries in India and China that process Russian crude oil.

Shockingly, the UK has allowed its world-leading insurance sector to facilitate nearly half of all Russian refined oil exports, according to @creacleanair.bsky.social. Now, the G7 and EU are considering a FULL BAN on Western maritime services for Russian oil shipments, potentially from early 2026.
